General worker x3 – Free State – Temporary position paid at a rate of R90 per hour
Our client has the following 3 month temporary vacancy available.
Key Performance Areas:

- Remove plants in the preparation of new/old beds, prepare the soil using the correct procedure and level to the agreed standard and landscape plan.
- Plant plants according to the planning plan, according to the standard and procedure for planting within agreed time frame.
- Water plants/ lawn according to agreed water region for each species and schedules.
- Load or removal of soil/compost /dead or new plants according to the correct procedure within agreed time frame.
- Fertilise, top dress, weed, feed lawns, mulch and feed beds according to the correct procedure, and schedules within agreed time frame.
- Prune clip, stake and train plants in accordance to horticultural best practices.
- Keep edges of flower beds according to the standards set for the garden.
- Assist in keeping pathways, water courses and drain clean/ clear of obstruction at all times.
- Report on pest and diseases.
- Raking of leaves on the lawns.
- Washing of tools after every use.
- Assist in litter management in and outside zoo parameters.
- Developments of new gardens inside the animal enclosures.
- Blowing of leaves using a blower
- Planting of trees around the zoo.
- Participation during environmental education programs.
- Removal of alien invasive in the zoo.
- Loading and uploading of plants.
- Identify and manual remove the unwanted plants/weeds/alien in beds or the estate using the correct removal techniques/ with agreed time.
- Act in complete compliance with the code of conduct, JCPZ policies and regulations.
- Apply the principles of managing diversity.
- Landscaping of gardens
- Identify and manually remove the unwanted plants/weeds/aliens in the beds
- Maintain all plants under your care according to correct procedures and propagation plan.
- Do not remove any plants without consulting the propagation plan for each use.
- Ensure that the correct plant labels stay with correct plantings and ensure it is correctly positioned.
- Be friendly and professional when dealing/assisting the public, and all other customers
- Share information accurately and openly
- Assist with plant displays and exhibitions.
- Identify possible risks to visitors and report immediately to any of the supervisors
- Identify waste and report immediately to any of supervisors
- Identify feral animals and report immediately to any of supervisors
Knowledge and Skills

- Basic knowledge of indigenous plants/ trees, weeds and alien plants/trees
- Knowledge of garden tools and how to use them
